2008 Grants

Grant Program Apparatus or Equipment Usage
Community Hospital Building, Inc. Trauma Equipment & Technology Equipment This grant allows us to better equip our ALS ambulances with trauma equipment to include jump bags and supplies newly put in service. This grant also allowed us the purchase of a projector screen for training, new Television for training and new Desktop PC. This grant funding has greatly improved training and recordkeeping.
CSU Forest Service VFA (Volunteer Fire Assistance) Grant Program Wildland Tools Each year we ask CSU Forest Service for improvements to our wildland firefighting ability. This grant allowed us to put into service new tools to assist in "mop up" operations (making sure a fire is truly out and will not rekindle).

2007 Grants

Grant Program Apparatus or Equipment Usage
Community Hospital Building, Inc. Pediatric Emergency Equipment This grant allows us to better equip our ALS ambulances with pediatric equipment for responding and providing higher level quality care for pediatric patients. These patients are very rarely encountered in the field but require quick interventions and having this equipment readily available has improved PT care for pediatric patients.
Colorado Department of Local Affairs. Structural Pumper This grant assisted in the purchase of a new structural pumper better equipped for responding to rural structural fires. The pumper has a 1500 gallon tank and replaces a 33 year old apparatus.

2006 Grants

FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Cascade Fill Station This grant allows us to better fill SCBA bottles for breathing air with CO monitoring and air intake from outside the facility versus within the building where trucks are parked
CSU Forest Service VFA (Volunteer Fire Assistance) Grant Program 3 FSS M-2002 fire shelters On certain mutual aid response situations, a fire shelter is required for our involvement. Fire shelters protect our red card certified members when they go out on fire assignment in uncertain terrain where safety is key.

 

2005 Grants

Grant Program Apparatus or Equipment Usage
Southern Colorado RETAC 2 AED Units To be placed at the two local gymnasiums for quick intervention in cardiac situations. To encourage community CPR training for lifesaving techniques involving cardiac arrest. 
FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant PPE/Equipment To equip 100% of our current volunteers with complete structural and wildland turnout gear (coats, pants, gloves, boots helmets) Thermal Imaging Camera,  Hose and new SCBAs. Grant total $169,776. 
CSU Forest Service VFA (Volunteer Fire Assistance) Grant Program 1000' of 5" hose To provide  forward lay capability for structural firefighting where the pumper can be positioned at the structure instead of at the hydrant.
   

2004 Grants

CSU Forest Service VFA (Volunteer Fire Assistance) Grant Program 500 Gallon Skid Unit Use for faster and more tactical response to wildland fires.
